WONGWIAN YAI STATION
Wongwian Yai could be referred to as Bangkok’s lost station. Not that many people know about it as it is tucked away down a small soi. It is also unusual as unlike Bangkok’s two other terminal stations, this one doesn’t connect to the main network. The line between Bangkok and Mahachai station in Samut Sakhon was a private railway when it first opened in 1904. It was built to transport goods from the fishing port to Bangkok. It became a part of the State Railway of Thailand in the 1950’s and is today a commuter line that takes people to Samut Sakhon. Wongwian Yai Station is in Thonburi district of Bangkok. It is near the roundabout of the same name and about a 10-15 minute walk from BTS Wongwian Yai station. Nearby bus routes are: 20, 21, 37, 82, 85, 105, 120, 173 and 529.
