The Thai Film Museum (พิพิธภัณฑ์ภาพยนตร์ไทย) is situated in a small building that was once the Sri Krung film studio, Thailand’s first sound film studio. Though small and built with only a 2 million baht budget, this two-storey museum stands majestically and contains precious knowledge and rare movie exhibits, including countless props, movie cameras, pictures, backgrounds, placards, and awards given to film-makers, actors, and actresses. Are the displays also labeled in English? I see that the writing on the building is Thai only…
There are no labels, so everyone has to join a tour. Some guides speak English.
The building is modelled after the Sri Krung studio. The original Sri Krung, which stood around Soi Asoke, was torn down a long time ago.
I am told it is a parking lot now for the MRT. I asked if there was a sign there marking the spot of the first sound studio in Thailand but they said no. But, they were hoping to do something. Do you know the exact spot?
I have a number of 8mm movies about Thailand and other places about 30 years ago. I would like to have them copied to DVD. Is there any company who could do this? Thank you! Wilhelm
You probably should check out some places like IT malls. Maybe Fortune Tower or Panthip Plaza can help you.
